We have just bought nearly 1000 sections of terrazzo columns reclaimed from Lewis's department store in Liverpool. Four pieces join together to form a circle. Originally these sections clad around RSJ steels but they can be used in various formats; unwrapped as a scalloped wall finish and other arrangements and uses are possible. The many different tones of marble, quartz, and granite bought by the Terrazzo composition make it ideal for interior re-use. 

Lewis's department store; a Portland stone building and Liverpool landmark, operated from 1856 to 1991 when the company went into administration. Forged by David Lewis, the building contributed to a retail phenomenon that changed the way we shop and architecturally navigate the landscape of our cities; a world in miniature complete with fluted columns. At one stage there was a zoo on the roof and a window display featuring the hand of a woman dug from ashes of Pompeii. To showcase ranges of Venetian goods, the basement levels were even flooded to deliberately emulate the landscape the wares had been sourced from!

Retrouvius will be closed over the Spring bank holiday weekend. We will not be open on Saturday the 25th May but will re-open as usual on Tuesday 28th May.

We are in the process of re-locating both our design offices and the Emery et Cie showroom within the warehouse. The Emery showroom will be unavailable from 20th May to 3rd June.
