This shelving system was manufactured by W. Lucy & Co Ltd, Oxford, from the late 1890's.
They named it "perfect adjustable shelving" – extremely versatile, as the brackets run up and down a groove in the upright and are easily locked in any position.
We salvaged these units from the Patent Office on Chancery Lane about twenty years ago, and sold sixty bays to a school, who have recently sold it back to us during refurbishments.
They had it sandblasted and painted grey, which could be a base coat for your colour of choice.
They also replaced the original shelves with solid oak, and fabricated stabilising brackets at the base.
As such, these are in excellent condition.
See how we've used these shelving systems in our interior design projects here.
