Our stock of iron grilles and grates were cast in the world’s best Victorian era foundries such as Coalbrookdale, Carron of Falkirk, and Ballantine and have a global reputation for quality.

Retrouvius has an eye for small details and these cast iron grilles offer great decorative potential whilst at the same time performing a practical re-use. Even the very functional can have a joyously patterned element.

Hard wearing architectural salvage elements such as these often come from church floors and large municipal buildings.

They can be re-used in conjunction with modern heating systems, as floor grilles, ventilation and radiator grilles and vents for server cupboards.

Use them where flow, be it radiating heat or rain run off, and continued access is required. We have used them as step treads at our showroom.

Retrouvius were offered this batch of highly unusual floor tiles originally from a foundry floor. We grabbed the opportunity to salvage them.

They offer reuse as hard wearing tiles where slippage is an issue; entrance lobbies, boot rooms or outside porch areas.

Our stock of cast iron firebacks date from the Georgian through to the Victorian era. Retrouvius salvaged them when we cleared the contents of a fireplace dealer.

The large batch of firebacks are of different ages, some crudely sand cast, other more ornate with fine details.

Retrouvius particularly loves the solidity of this salvage. We value materials that have proven durability and improve with age, use and layers of patination.
