This large family home needed enlarging and opening up. A new extension centralised the existing entrance and hallway, restoring balance and the buildings historical root.
The design team were keen to maximise flow both visually and spatially.
The original hallway window encourages light flow and gives visitors an immediate sense of navigation within the building.
Long vistas of the ground floor and a sense of connection to the outside world wherever you are in the home was achieved by opening up space all over the building. A relaxed comfortable feel is achieved with a wide ranging use of salvage; Victorian Patent Office iron shelving, oak drawer bottoms, army barracks floor boards, sliding 1930s copper framed windows....
